The NZTA want to increase the number of children walking to school because walking benefits people, places and the planet. At Nelson Central we are encouraging children to walk to school with a caregiver, friend, or organised walking group at least once a week, every week, during term time. If children can’t walk all the way from home to school we suggest perhaps mum or dad can drop them off a block or two from school where they can join other walkers to school.
